Would you like to organise an excursion yourself and need financial support to do so? If so, you can apply to the AStA for funding for your excursion. If your idea meets the funding guidelines, you can apply for financial support. Below you will find the requirements and conditions for funding.
All students at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts are eligible to apply for funding. If you are applying on behalf of a group, only those members of the group who are enrolled at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts at the time of the field trip will be eligible for funding.
Student-organised study trips focusing on the following areas:
• Professional development
Field trips directly related to the subject of study and designed to supplement course content not covered by the university; e.g. to museums, exhibition venues, research institutions, universities and companies
• Networking events or trips (both national and international)
Support is provided for networking events (or trips) that are directly
related to the student’s field of study and their future career prospects; e.g. conferences, seminars, and symposia
• Political education and further training in politics
Excursions to events and locations that do not necessarily have a direct academic connection, but which serve to enhance the participants’ political education. e.g. panel discussions, lectures
A flat-rate travel allowance of €50 per person (for domestic trips) or €100 per person (for trips abroad) may be claimed per application. If the per-person cost of the excursion is less than €50 or €100, the application will NOT be considered. The maximum group size is 10 people per excursion. If the planned study trip exceeds the specified group size, the application may still be submitted, but the funding will only be paid out for 10 people. Multiple applications for the same excursion cannot be considered once the maximum group size of 10 people has been exceeded.
To ensure the application is decided upon as quickly as possible, the complete application must be submitted at least five working days before an AStA meeting. This is necessary because applications for project funding must first be checked for formal correctness. The applicant(s) must be invited to and attend the next AStA meeting, the date of which will be communicated by email. The application should not exceed four A4 pages and must be dated by the applicant(s) on the date of submission.
The application must also name a contact person and provide their contact details, as well as bank account details.
Submitting your application for project funding is not the end of the process. As the AStA manages the student body’s funds, the committee members must carefully monitor how the money is spent. For this reason, once you have submitted your application, you will be invited to an AStA meeting at the earliest opportunity. At this meeting, you will need to present your project and answer questions from the AStA. We will then decide on funding based on your application and your presentation. This means, therefore, that your application may also be rejected.
If your project is funded, please note the following:
A fully signed financial statement must be submitted to the AStA no later than four weeks after your return. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your entitlement to the excursion grant. The reason for this is that the AStA must also keep its finances in order. If too many applications for project funding remain outstanding without a final statement, it is not possible to decide on funds that may not have been used. Invoices and receipts are required for the final statements, i.e. proof of the expenses incurred.
In addition, we require a certificate of enrolment from all participants receiving funding.
Once you have submitted all the necessary supporting documents, we will transfer the funds to the account specified in the application.
If all the guidelines have been followed, there is nothing to stand in the way of a successful grant. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
