loans

Financial difficulties? It’s a sad reality, but true: many students find themselves in financial difficulties despite receiving BAföG, scholarships or support from their parents. We’d like to take this opportunity to let you know where you can get help if you’re facing financial difficulties.

NOTICE FROM ASTA REGARDING TAKING OUT A LOAN:
We expressly point out that funds paid out to you via a loan must be repaid, unless otherwise stated. Failure to meet this obligation can very quickly result in legal fees and charges from bailiffs or debt collection agencies, or even legal proceedings for fraud.

HOW THE ASTA LOAN SCHEME AT THE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES IN DORTMUND WORKS:

The AStA provides small interest-free loans to students facing financial difficulties. However, this is only possible if there are funds remaining in the loan fund. No cash is paid out; instead, we settle your most urgent bill, such as your next semester fee or your rent. Application forms are available from the AStA office on campus or at the AStA copy shops on Sonnenstraße and on campus.

Please note that the application for a loan to cover the semester fee must be submitted
before the first deadline for payment of the semester fee set by the University of Applied Sciences.
Unfortunately, due to high demand, we cannot make any exceptions and cannot accept loan applications for the semester fee after the first deadline has passed.

Please bring all the necessary documents with you to the appointment. Unfortunately, no loan can be granted if the documents are incomplete.

THE PROCESS OF TAKING OUT A LOAN IS AS FOLLOWS:

  1. Please submit your application and the required documents to us by email (the necessary documents are listed in the application form). It would be helpful if you could send us all the documents in a single PDF file.
  2. We will then review your application and get back to you by email.
  3. If your application is approved, we will need to draw up an instalment payment agreement. It is best to drop by during our office hours for this; otherwise, we can also sort this out by email.
  4. We will draw up your loan agreement and send it to you by email.
  5. Please print out the loan agreement we have sent you in triplicate and sign it.
  6. Once this is done, please post the three signed copies to us at:

AStA z.H. Frau Hünermund

Emil-Figge-Str 38b

It can take around three weeks from the time you submit your application until the earmarked loan is transferred. Please bear this in mind when applying.
